The Jackson Prep Choral Department offers many opportunities for students to develop their talents and abilities.
Jackson Prep's Choral Music Department offers students a wide variety of outlets for musical expression. Reveillon is the award-winning senior high show choir, competing yearly in local and national competitions. Fusion is the junior high show choir, also competing in competitions across the southeast and preparing students for future vocal music experiences. Jackson Prep also offers two a cappella groups, Prep Tones and Capital. Prep Tones is known for their red and blue club blazers worn at their performances, and for their classic, upbeat sound. Capital is known for their contemporary look and sound, performing many current hits in their performances. 7th grade students also have the option of taking Patriot Singers during their rotation, a beginner level of choral music where basic fundamentals of music are taught, such as solfege and breathing techniques.

  • Reveillon

    Reveillon show choir is the award-winning high school auditioned choir that consists of students in grades ten through twelve.  It is a full-year course.  Students in this class prepare for various performances throughout the school year working on proper breathing techniques, vocal production, choreography, projection, and staging and poise. Students prepare a performance for show choir competitions as well as other concerts to be performed throughout the school year. Reveillon members can be found in the annual school musical, the annual Carols at Christmas Concert, and other performances throughout the year.  There are also individual solo competitions for which students prepare. Members are encouraged to audition for the Mississippi All-State Honor Show Choir in the spring of each year. Reveillon is proud to have nationally known choreographers and arrangers work with them in preparation for the competition season.  The show choir season culminates in the spring with the Jackson Prep Show Choir Showcase.

    Auditions for Reveillon are held in late spring.  Students must attend a two-day choreography clinic and prepare a solo for auditions.

    Reveillon competes each spring in show choir competitions state-wide, regionally, and nationally.
  • Fusion

    Fusion is the co-ed junior high showchoir at Jackson Prep. This showchoir consists of students in grades eight and nine. Fusion is a performance-based class that studies correct vocal techniques, music theory, music literature, and performance skills. Fusion competes each spring in several showchoir competitions.  These choral students perform in the annual musical, the Carols at Christmas concert, and other performances throughout the school year. Fusion is auditioned in the spring before the next school year.
  • Prep Patriot Singers

    Prep Patriot Singers a full year course for seventh grade students. Students in this class learn the basics of music education and singing. Students work on proper breathing techniques, vocal production, and sight-singing. Students prepare pieces for choral competitions and concerts to be performed in various venues during the school year. Students learn a wide-range of music including an introduction to showchoir during the spring.
  • Prep Tones

    Prep Tones is Jackson Prep's a cappella group comprised of 9th through 12th graders. As ambassadors of Jackson Prep, performing at various events around the Jackson Metro area, Prep Tones can be recognized by their classic red and blue blazers with the school's embroidered crest. Performing music from golden classics to current pop hits, Prep Tones has something for everyone to enjoy. 
  • Capital

    Capital is a contemporary a cappella group at Jackson Prep, comprised of 9th through 12th grade students, that performs at various functions at Jackson Prep and around the community of Mississippi. Students audition for Capital at the end of the Spring semester for the following academic school year. Being the small group that it is, each member plays an extremely vital role in the sound, creativity, performance, and overall success of the group.
    Most members of Capital have had private voice training and have a passion for bettering themselves as a vocalist and overall musician. Capital members are independent learners and teach themselves vocal parts with the help of tracks that will be provided.
