College Counseling

The Jackson Prep College Counseling Office provides a supportive environment for students and families to make informed choices involving appropriate college placement by providing resource materials, offering counsel, and assisting in the submission of applications.

Recognizing that each child is unique,

counselors strive to help each student identify his or her strengths, values, and interests before determining which colleges best meet the student’s needs.  Support is individualized, proactive, and empowers the student to take ownership of the process.  College counseling at Jackson Prep is a four-year, cumulative process including parent and student meetings at every grade level, extensive individual advising of juniors and seniors, regular communication with students and families, an annual college fair, and other special projects.

As a member of the National and Southern Associations of College Admission Counseling, Jackson Prep agrees to abide by the NACAC Statement of Principles of Good Practice, which set forth ethical standards for the college admissions process that protects the rights of the students, the secondary schools, and the colleges.  The brochure Students’ Rights and Responsibilities in the College Admission Process makes these policies clear to prospective college students.
